Unit of Study:

*Becoming Avid Readers

This unit builds on the skills that kindergarteners have developed during the past reading units. By applying these skills, students will progress from “We Are Readers” to “Becoming Avid Readers.” Readers will read and role play familiar stories; read nonfiction books to gather information on a variety of topics, and celebrate the unit by the reading of poetry.


*All About Books

In this unit, writers will write lots of information books about lots of different topics. Students will use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic.



Unit of study:

*Identify and Describe Two-Dimensional Shapes - Geometry Mathematicians will: identify and describe shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, and hexagons); correctly name shapes regardless of their orientation or overall size; analyze and compare these shapes to describe their similarities, differences, parts ( e g., number of sides and vertices/corners , length of sides); compose simple shapes to form larger shapes.

Unit of Study:

Students will learn about:

*Seasonal weather changes and how they affect physical changes of the environment and human activities. affect ow it is observed and its importance to us.

*April Celebrations- Passover, Easter, and Earth Day.




Kindergarteners will be working on a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Project for our upcoming Science Fair.The theme is A HOUSE FOR THE THREE LITTLE PIGS.

Kindergarteners will help the three little pigs solve their problem by building a house that will protect them from the Big Bad Wolf. Using a wide variety of materials and working in groups, students will design and build a house that will not only hold the pigs, but also will survive a blast of air from the Big Bad Wolf (otherwise known as a blow dryer).

Your Body and Mind. Students will learn *that the physical positive actions of eating nutritiously, getting enough exercise and rest and, the intellectual positive actions of being curious and learning new things help us be healthy and feel good about ourselves
