The Science lab is an extension of classroom
science lessons. Classroom science lessons
focus on reading in science and science
vocabulary, while the lab helps students
reinforce their current science curriculum
through hands on exploration, structured
labs, and student presentations. Lab lessons
are designed to be motivational as well as
educational, and usually involve cooperative
learning groups. The material we cover is
coordinated with the classroom teachers in
various grades to ensure a consistent pace
and sequence.
In addition to the many tools and materials
we have to use during lab periods, students
are expected to bring and maintain a science
notebook. This notebook is a place to record
the activity in lab, notes from lessons, and
classroom science notes.
Homework is an extension of the work we've
done in lab, and is usually assigned upon
completion of a unit of study or experiment.
