P.S. 101Q
Physical Education Program
Physical
education is an important component of a
well-rounded school curriculum. It includes
psychomotor, cognitive and affective
development. The program at P.S.101Q
addresses acquisition of knowledge
(vocabulary and skills) related to health,
fitness and sports. Underlying all of this
is the development of a positive attitude
through movement-based activities.
Our fitness
program helps children assess their own
fitness level. They learn to strengthen
areas of weakness and develop new skills and
abilities. Care is taken to address the wide
range of abilities of all students, and
increase their capabilities and
self-confidence in both movement and sports.
Individual units
are carefully planned to provide students
with a variety of sports knowledge and
experience. Both team and individual sports
are included. Activities are challenging and
motivating and foster the development of
sportsmanship and good interpersonal
relationships. All lessons meet the N.Y.
State Standards in Physical Education.
The ultimate
goal of our Physical Education program is to
help students achieve a healthy lifestyle
conducive to a full and productive life both
in and out of school.
Yours in Fitness & Good Health,
Ms. Giaimo
