Attention
Parents for Fifth & Sixth Graders: New Application Process for
Middle Schools
December 3,
2009
Dear Fifth and Sixth Grade
Parents,
On Monday, we
distributed middle school applications given to us by the
Office of Student Enrollment. These applications are new to
New York City this year. Instead of two separate
applications, this application combines the magnet school and
zoned middle school choices. The Office of Student Enrollment
has informed us of the following procedures/guidelines
involving this application. Each application has a zoned
middle school on it, based on your home address.
If you are a parent
of a fifth grader and want to remain at P.S. 101 for the sixth
grade and do not want to apply for a magnet middle school do
not fill out the application. If you are a parent of a sixth
grader and you would like your child to attend their zoned
middle school; and you are not interested in a magnet school,
please do not fill out this application.
You have the option of applying
to any of the magnet middle schools although you are not under
any obligation. Please place these schools in priority order
by listing the numbers 1-4 next to the school names on the
application. If your
child is accepted to a magnet school they will still have the
option of choosing to go to their zoned school instead.
There are
additional schools that have separate applications such as
Louis Armstrong, Baccalaureate, and Hunter. Please do not
write these schools on this application.
If you have any
further questions regarding this process, please feel free to
contact Randy St. Germain, Parent Coordinator at

Guidance Counselor at
