INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS

Dear Parents:

In the event that there are severe weather conditions and/or heavy snowstorms four possible actions may be taken by the Department of Education.

1. The school will remain open and follow the regular schedule
2. The school will be closed and parents will be expected to have their children remain at home.
3. The Chancellor will authorize a citywide 2 hour delay in school openings
4. The Chancellor will authorize a citywide early dismissal

The Chancellor will make all announcements on the radio. Therefore it is important that you do the following:

1. Beginning at 6:00AM listen to announcements concerning weather New York City schools will be in session.  The following radio stations will convey this information to you:

RADIO STATION AM WCBS-880RADIO STATION AM WINS 1010

2. Please be aware that P.S.101Q is part of Community School District 28, Region 3.

3. Please do not call the school. Listen to the radio broadcasts.

In the event of worsening weather conditions during a school day (See # 4 above) New York City Schools may be forced to close early. Bus students will remain in the school until they are picked by the bus, which will follow its regular schedule. Bus child may be picked up before they board the bus if the parent chooses to do so.

In the event of a two hour delayed opening ( see # 3 above) school will open approximately at 10:20 AM and will close approximately at 2:50 PM. A delayed school opening will automatically cancel all field trips. children who ride the bus to school in the morning will be picked up two hours later than usual. Parents should make arrangements to have their children picked up from the bus stop in the afternoon at the regular time. Please be aware that there may be some delay due to road conditions.

It is advisable to discuss contingency plans with your child before an emergency occurs. If possible parents should make arrangements with a friend, neighbor or relative who is at home during the day to pick up their child in case of a weather emergency.

Important: Please make sure that your child knows and can recognize the person who will be picking them up in the event of a weather emergency. For the safety of the children, we will not dismiss a child to someone that they do not know.

We urge parents to make every effort to make arrangements so that their child can be picked up as soon as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this very important matter

Very truly yours,

Ronnie Feder, Principal, P.S.101Q
