Readers Are Story Detectives Who Use the Patterns in Books to Figure out Their Story
  • Readers pay attention to words or lines by looking at patterns
  • Readers figure out how words change by looking at the patterns and the pictures
  • Readers figure out the ending of the story by how the pattern changes
  • Readers read fluently by using the patterns in a story

  • Writers read ‘how to ‘books and write sequence words
  • Writers make a list of materials needed to write about their topic
  • Writers add details to pictures by labeling
  • Writers revise their books by asking their partners ‘does this make sense?
