Readers Learn Information About the World through Their Books in Themed Based Reading

• Readers become experts at choosing a subject

• Readers understand their topic by looking closely at the words

• Readers use pictures in the book to predict what is happening

• Readers learn new things about their topics by listing across their fingers

• Readers grow ideas about their subject by reading to see if it makes sense

• Readers teach each other what they learned by sharing with each other

 

All About Books in Science, Social Studies

• Writers become experts by thinking about how their topic changes or help one another

• Writers write/illustrate details about their topics

• Writers elaborate/write details to their writing pieces by sketching and labeling parts of their topics

• Writers choose a piece of their writing that they would like to publish PUBLISH
