My Goal for the upcoming school year is to create a school-wide counseling program that will foster an environment where all students will be give the opportunity to develop personally, socially, and academically. I value individuality and diversity and strive to meet the needs of each student. I focus on collaboration between families and school professionals to provide optimum services to all the students.

The following counseling services are offered to P.S. 101 Students:

  • Mandated individual counseling based on student's Individual Education Plan ("IEP")

  • Mandated group counseling based on student's IEP.

  • At-risk individual and group counseling based on recommendations by teachers and/or parents.*

  • Classroom guidance units on topics such as anti-bulling, character education, diversity, citizenship, academic excellence, life skills, and safety issues, adapted for all ages groups.

  • Group counseling services for such issues as divorce, grief, anger management, and friendships.*

  • Crisis intervention on a need to need basis.

In addition to counseling services, I provide various opportunities, listed below, for students to participate in social and personal activities that promote leadership, responsibility, and academic skills

  • Student Council

  • Nutrition Committee

  • Buddy Program

  • Community Service Credit

Please feel free to contact me for a confidential discussion regarding any issue concerning your child. I will be happy to discuss any aspect of the counseling program with you.

Regards,

Jodi Maggio
