Reading Workshop/Social Issues

• Readers notice the groups that their characters belong to by jotting down on post its

• Readers are on the lookout for things that aren’t fair by putting post its on places

• Readers are on the lookout for stereotypes by marking places where one character is stereotyping another character

• Readers consider how there are often 2 sides of an issue
 

 

Writing Workshop - Poetry

• Writers will read the ‘Great Kapak Tree’ & write features of the rain forest

• Writers find information by using nonfiction planning squares

• Writers use a think aloud to clarify Q & A

• Writers add dialogue craft element
